“The Mets have called the White Sox regarding the 31-year-old right-handed pitcher.”

The popularity of Eric Peddie (31, Chicago White Sox) is soaring. The St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers, and Atlanta Braves have been considered as potential destinations. Now, a powerful variable has emerged: the New York Mets, owned by a billionaire owner.

The Mets are tied for third place with the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League Wild Card race with 55 wins and 50 losses. They are even one game ahead of the fifth-place St. Louis Cardinals. They were considered a team that needed to strengthen their starting pitchers to advance to the postseason.

However, 'Ghost Forkballer' Kodai Senga made his first appearance of the season on the 27th (Korean time) after recovering from a shoulder capsule injury, but suffered a calf injury in that game. There is even talk of ending the season as it is. It would be difficult to advance to the postseason without Senga, and it would be difficult to be competitive.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported on the 29th that the Mets called the White Sox. MLB.com predicted that the Mets’ desire to trade starting pitchers has been further intensified by Senga’s injury. Sherman also said that Peddie and James Taillon (Chicago Cubs) should be watched.

Sherman said, “Peddie, who was frustrated with the Washington Nationals, won the MVP in Korea and returned to the major leagues with the White Sox on a two-year, $15 million contract. If Garrett Crochet is the top product, Peddie has a batting average of .223 and handles both left-handed and right-handed batters well.”

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic said that the teams most likely to trade Peddie at this point are St. Louis and Milwaukee Blues. It is unclear whether the New York Mets will change the format to a three-way battle. However, it seems true that Senga’s calf injury has increased the desire to acquire Peddie.
