Resorts World New York City in South Ozone Park has recently reached a massive milestone, as the Queens-based casino generated over US$4 billion in revenue for New York’s lottery education fund. In just 12 years, the property has provided enough proceeds to pay the salaries of 45,000 public teachers. Meanwhile, its Hyatt Regency JFK Airport is celebrating its second anniversary.

The Queens casino is one of the five gambling establishments owned and operated by Genting Americas East, which is on course to restart work at its Rees Jones-designed Monster golf club at Resorts World Catskills in August. Meanwhile, the corporation’s Resort World Hudson Valley is having a major impact on the revitalization of Newburgh Mall and the nearby communities.

-Continuing its Commitment

Genting Americas East President Robert DeSalvio shared that the summer has been one to remember for the company’s properties in the Empire State. However, he is most proud of Resort World New York City’s achievement of backing students and education by providing much-needed resources. The operator’s establishments continue to deliver on the company’s commitment to the state.

The casino’s revenue for education could increase drastically if the company manages to get its hands on one of the full-scale casino licenses for the downstate region. Currently, RWNYC offers slots and electronic table games, but with the license, it would be able to add live dealer games such as poker, blackjack, and roulette to the mix. While also providing more work opportunities.

Earlier this year, President and CEO of the Greater Jamaica Development Corporation, Justin Rodgers expressed his gratitude towards the casino for being a key partner. He explained that since the launch of the casino, it managed to generously support numerous programs and initiatives. Hence supporting businesses to expand and contribute to the local economy while providing funding for incubator spaces and nurturing innovation.

Queens Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Tom Grech is an advocate for the expansion of the casino and said it had a proven track record as a community partner, who stepped up during the recent turbulent times. He said that thanks to the casino’s growth and success, students and educators from the borough, the city, and the state, are benefiting from it.

In addition to supporting from Mr. Grech, the gaming location has also gained backing from a subsidiary of Electra USA, Gilston Electric over its license pursuit. The company has once again demonstrated its backing for the hotel expansion of the gaming amenity in Queens, as before that the company performed extensive electrical work through the project, thus securing its place in it.

- Hotel Plays its Part

Also, the launch of the casino’s US$400 million Hyatt Regency over two years ago, provided 500 jobs in southeast Queens while putting the total investment of the company in the region to US$1.1 billion. The hotel’s close proximity to the JFK airport proved beneficial for incoming and departing flight crews, who regularly use the hotel for staying the night between flights.
