Born in Illinois, the U.S., Jansen entered the professional league in the 16th round of the 2013 MLB Rookie Draft by Toronto. Although he was not a promising player in the spotlight as an amateur, he grew steadily after entering the professional league, and as a result, he was able to enjoy the joy of making his Major League debut in 2018.

Jansen, who played in a total of 31 games in his first year in the big league, had a batting average of 0.247 with three home runs and eight RBIs. However, he showed a batting average of 0.207 with 13 home runs and 43 RBIs in a total of 107 games in 2019, the following year, and improved further.

Since then, Jansen has not played more than 100 games in a season in the big leagues, but he has been an offensive catcher who plays his part within the given time, recording double-digit homers for three consecutive seasons from 2021 to last year.

The Toronto Blue Jays traded bullpen pitcher Nate Pearson (28) to the Chicago Cubs on the same day. Toronto, which became a seller in the trade market after failing to advance to the postseason, seems to be returning to rebuilding mode by selling out its main players.
