 South Korean national soccer team striker Hwang Hee-chan Wolverhampton has collapsed due to injury. Hwang Seon-ho is on high alert ahead of the second consecutive match against Thailand in the preliminary round of the North Korea-China-U.S. World Cup in March.

Hwang Hee-chan started as a front-line striker in the fifth round of the 2023-2024 FA Cup round of 16 against Brighton and Hove Albion at Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton, England, on the 29th, but was replaced by Pedro Neto in the 11th minute of the second half.

Coach Gary O'Neill of Wolverhampton said, "Hwang Hee-chan felt something wrong with his hamstring. It's a disaster for us because we have a shallow squad," adding, "It doesn't seem to be serious, and I don't think it's going to be serious."

Hwang Hee-chan's injury is a hamstring injury that requires a long break. It could affect up to two consecutive rounds of qualifying matches for the 2026 North-Central America World Cup against Thailand in March, when Hwang Sun-hong, the coach of the Korean Olympic team, will serve as interim head coach.
