The Middle East is a region where car is king and fuel is low-cost, typically leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving.


But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have actually pressed up the price of oil, the issue of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.


In an area that has one of the greatest carbon footprints worldwide, one organization is taking advantage of the growing pressure to find options to oil. It's set up the Middle East's very first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving lucrative too, currently their client-list contains McDonald's.
