Yoon Soo-ah (22, PharmaResearch) reported her first career dream tour victory.
Yoon Soo-ah lifted the trophy after an extended match in the 16th round of KLPGA Gunsan CC and Century P&C Dream Tour 2024 (total prize money of 80 million won and 12 million won in prize money), which ended at the Buan (OUT) and Namwon (IN) courses of Gunsan Country Club (par 72/6,509 yards) in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province on the 1st.
Yoon had two birdies without a bogey in the first round, tying for 25th at 2-under 70. In the final round, Yoon displayed flawless play by snatching six birdies, recording 8-under 136 (70-66) overall, and went into extra time with Yoon Hye-rim, 27, who tied for the same.
The joys and sorrows of Yoon Soo-ah and Yoon Hye-rim were split on the first hole of the extension. Yoon calmly made a 2.5-meter birdie putt to win the title, while Yoon finished with par at the first hole of the extension at the 18th hole (par 4/352 yards).
Yoon Soo-ah said, "Actually, the desire to win was really great. Until recently, I had a lot of thoughts about 'Can I win?' but I'm happy and happy that I've overcome myself with my first career victory that I've been waiting for today."
Yoon Soo-ah, who thought simply and did not doubt her decision as the driving force for this victory, said, "I would like to thank the sponsors, associations, and officials for holding the competition so that I can win," adding, "I would like to thank Chairman Lee Ju-ran and his employees, his family for silently supporting and waiting from behind, and Cho-ryeong and Lee Mi-na."
Yoon Soo-ah, who followed her mother to the practice range in the fifth grade of elementary school and first caught a golf club, began her career in earnest when she became the sixth grade of elementary school. Although she did not win a championship, national team, or national standing army when she was an amateur, she did not give up and succeeded in joining the KLPGA as a associate member in 2021.
Yoon Soo-ah, who enjoyed the joy of being promoted to a full member by recording a good performance in the first competition (Game 1-4) that she participated in the jump tour immediately after joining, has since moved to the Dream Tour and is adjusting her skills. In particular, Yoon Soo-ah, who rose to 21st place in the prize money rankings by adding 12 million won in prize money by winning this competition, has taken a step forward toward the "2025 KLPGA Tour Seed Zone," which is given to players who rank up to 20th in the prize money rankings.
When asked about her goal, Yoon said, "My goal up until this year was to be ranked in the top three and qualify for the King of Kings match. Through this victory, I have acquired the right to participate in the King of Kings match. I will add one more win to the remaining championships to secure the right to seed the 2025 season regular tour."
In addition, Sung Eun-jung (25) and Choi Ye-bon (21) finished third with 7-under 137 overall, while Lee Ji-young 5 (22, Kyung-hee Co., Ltd.) and Choi Lee-soo (19, K-Capital Partners), who recorded 6-under 138 overall, tied for fifth. Kwon Seo-yeon (23, Woori Financial Group), the winner of the KLPGA 2024 Seoul Pharmaceutical and Q Capital Partners Dream Challenge 15th round, tied for third place with 5-under 67 in the first round and sought to win two consecutive tournaments, but lost three shots in the final round and tied for 29th with 2-under 142 (67-75) overall.
The final round of the tournament, co-hosted by Gunsan Country Club and Segi P&C and organized by KLPGT, will be recorded and broadcasted from 6:50 p.m. on the 16th through SBS Golf, the host broadcaster.
