'700 million dollar man' Shohei Ohtani (LA Dodgers) has started preparing his body early ahead of his new team's spring camp starting in the middle of next month. The American media praised Otani, who was sweating profusely after returning from his break.

'Dodgers Nations', which covers LA Dodgers news, released a video of Ohtani training at Dodger Stadium, the home stadium of the LA Dodgers, through its official Twitter account on the 7th (Korean time).

'Dodgers Nation' humorously stated, "Ohtani called Dodger Stadium (to train) after the ink was dry on his new contract," and added, "Ohtani was spotted working out at Dodger Stadium. This man once “Should we at least take a break?” he said, praising Otani.

In a video released by 'Dodgers Nation', Ohtani warmed up in the outfield wearing LA Dodgers training uniform. He was wearing special training equipment and preparing to undergo a training program with the help of people who appeared to be trainers.

'Dodgers Nation' also paid attention to Ohtani's every move, saying, "Ohtani was found together with LA Dodgers Chairman Andrew Friedman and interpreter Ifei Mizuhara at Dodger Stadium."

Sports Hochi, a Japanese sports media outlet, also expressed interest, saying, "Ohtani was not wearing a right elbow stabilizer or support brace in the video released by the American media," and "It appears that he is recovering well (after elbow surgery)."

On December 10th of last year, Ohtani surprised not only the Major League but also the world. After entering the United States in 2018, he left the LA Angels and found a new home with the LA Dodgers, having achieved his first free agent status.

The terms of the contract were also unprecedented. With a 10-year contract period and a total value of $700 million (approximately 921.2 billion won), he made history as the highest-paid contract in Major League history. Ohtani not only has former teammate Mike Trout signed a 12-year contract with the Los Angeles Angels worth $426.5 million (approximately KRW 563 billion), but also has NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs) as the best player in North American professional sports. It significantly exceeded the 10-year ransom of $450 million (about 594 billion won).

He also surpassed the god of soccer, Lionel Messi. Otani also surpassed the $674 million (approximately KRW 889.7 billion) contract that Messi signed with FC Barcelona from 2017 to 2021. Ohtani is the most expensive sports player on the planet and will be wearing a Dodgers uniform and playing in the Major League starting in the 2024 season.

Ohtani is the undisputed best star in Major League Baseball. He boasts top-class skills in both hitting and hitting, and is evaluated as having no player in big league history who can match his star quality.

After conquering Japanese professional baseball, Ohtani signed a contract with the LA Angels in 2018 and succeeded in advancing to the major leagues. Since his first year of debut, he has not only hit 20 home runs, but also started 10 games and doubled as a two-hitter, causing the 'double-double syndrome'.

Although he had a difficult time due to an elbow injury and the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) pandemic, he made the Major League a stage for himself starting from the 2021 season. As a batter, he played in 158 games, 537 at-bats, 138 hits, a batting average of 0.257, 46 home runs, 100 RBIs, and an OPS of 0.964. As a pitcher, he started 23 games, went 130⅓ innings, won 9, lost 2, and had an ERA of 3.18, performing like something you'd see in a baseball cartoon.

There was no stopping Otani's development. In 2022, he showed off even more monstrous performances as a batter, with 157 games, 586 at-bats, 160 hits, a batting average of 0.273, 34 home runs, 95 RBIs, and an OPS of 0.875, and as a pitcher, he started 28 games, went 15 wins, 9 losses, and had an ERA of 2.33 in 166 innings.

In the 2023 season, he recorded 10 wins and 10 home runs in two consecutive seasons, and 10 wins and 40 home runs in a single season, a feat that even Babe Ruth could not achieve. He showed himself as a top-class starting pitcher in the big league with 10 wins, 5 losses, and an average ERA of 3.14 in 23 games and 132 innings. As a batter, he also hit hard with 151 hits in 497 at-bats in 135 games, a batting average of 0.304, 44 home runs, 95 RBI, and an OPS of 1.066. He had his best year yet, leading Japan to victory at the World Baseball Classic (WBC) and winning the MVP of the tournament.

Ohtani underwent ligament replacement surgery for the second time in his career due to a right elbow injury in the second half of last year. Even though he has no choice but to focus on batting without dual hitters in the 2024 season, the LA Dodgers judged Ohtani to be an astronomically valuable player.

As soon as Ohtani joined the Dodgers, he brought enormous benefits to the club. In terms of his uniform sales, he instantly surpassed that of soccer god Lionel Messi and broke the record for the highest number of uniforms sold in history. 파워볼게임

Ohtani agreed to defer payment of $68 million of the $70 million he is owed annually from 2024 to 2033. The deferred amount will be paid interest-free from 2034 to 2043.
