"We wanted to approach him differently than other clubs but he didn't want to leave Birmingham City, but he was the best player we considered," he added.
Chelsea's efforts did not come to fruition in the end. The young player stayed in Birmingham until the end, making his first team debut in 2019 at the age of 16.
