User talk:Host Hoia State Targets 1.7 Million Foreign Visits in 2022
Vietnam's Quang Nam, home to casino resort Hoiana (pictured), aims to attract 1.7 million foreign tourists in 2022, local media outlet VN Express reported, citing local tourism authorities.
Quang Nam aims to welcome 4.2 million domestic visitors throughout 2022.
Vietnam's national and regional tourism authorities are currently planning several tourism promotions to be held in Quang Nam in the coming months to attract tourists.
VN Express reported that 7.6 million visitors, half of Quang's men, visited in 2019 before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nationwide, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said earlier this week that Vietnam aims to receive 5 million foreign visitors in all of 2022.
Hoiana Resort is located in Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province, and features a foreigner-only casino. The game and leisure complex was one of the tourist destinations allowed to welcome overseas guests as part of the national "vaccine passport program" introduced in the fourth quarter of last year in Vietnam. At the time, the plan was presented as an initial step for the national authorities to promote the resumption of international tourism.
Under the program, Vietnam is gradually easing travel restrictions.
Vietnam is now trying to lift most of its entry restrictions on foreign tourists until Mar. 15. That includes exempting foreign tourists from the requirement that they book travel packages to visit the country in order to enter Vietnam.
Foreign tourists must still show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or recovery from the virus infection, and must be issued a negative virus test result certificate before departure and upon arrival, according to the government's proposal.
The proposal states that international travelers should also remain self-isolating for the first 24 hours after arriving in Vietnam.
