Jeju Dream Tower Casino Resort (pictured) recorded 14.4 billion won in gaming sales in the three months to Dec. 31, 2021. This is up 17.1 percent from 12.3 billion won in the previous quarter, Lotte Tourism Development said Thursday.
Casino net sales (sales after rebates and fees) in Q4 2021 were KRW 9.8 billion, a significant increase from KRW 8.1 billion in Q3.
About 9.7 billion won of game sales in the fourth quarter came from the VIP sector, and 4.7 billion won came from mass table play. This compares with 4.3 billion won in VIP sales and 8 billion won in mass market business sales in the third quarter.
VIP rolling chips were sold at 253.5 billion won in the fourth quarter, up from 133.9 billion won in the previous quarter. The drop in mass tables, cash exchanged for chips at tables, was 27.4 billion won, down from 38 billion won in the third quarter.
Lotte Tour opened a foreigner-only casino at Jeju Dream Tower on June 11, 2021. The casino was relocated from Lotte Hotel Jeju in early 2021.

The Grand Hyatt Jeju hotel operator reported an operating loss of 29.1 billion won in the fourth quarter and negative earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of 10.2 billion won. This compares with an operating loss of 33.7 billion won and negative EBITDA of 16.5 billion won in the third quarter.
In 2021, it incurred an operating loss of KRW 130.2 billion compared to KRW 71.4 billion in the previous year. It recorded a negative EBITDA of KRW 61.3 billion compared to KRW 53.4 billion in 2020.
