K4 League opens on the 16th

K3 League match between Hwaseong FC and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power

The K3 and K4 leagues, which are the third and fourth divisions of Korean adult soccer, will open on the 2nd and run until November.

The K3 and K4 leagues, hosted by the Korea Football Association, were launched in 2020.

This season, 16 teams in the K3 League will play 30 games per team in a home and away format to determine the champion.

In the opening match held at 2 p.m. on the 2nd, defending champion Hwaseong FC will face promoted team Daegu FC B at the Hwaseong Sports Complex Main Stadium.

Hwaseong FC parted ways with Kang Cheol, head of the power reinforcement department at Gimpo FC, who led the team to the championship, and appointed coach Joo Seung-jin and reorganized the team.

Daegu FC B team, which was promoted by finishing second in the K4 league last year, will play in the K3 league for the first time since professional B teams were allowed to participate in the K3 and K4 leagues in 2021.

On the same day, at Yeoju Sports Complex, Yeoju FC, which took the K4 League by storm last year and secured the championship and promotion early on, will face last year's K3 League runner-up FC Mokpo.

The K3 League determines rankings based solely on regular season performance without separate playoffs, and the bottom two teams (15th and 16th) are immediately relegated to the K4 League.

The 14th-place team in K3 will play a promotion-delegation match against the winner of the K4 League playoffs to decide whether or not to be relegated.

Meanwhile, the K4 League opens on the 16th.

This year's K4 League will feature 13 teams, including the new team Namyangju Citizens' Football Club and two professional B teams (Daejeon Hana Citizen and Jeonbuk Hyundai), and will play 24 games per team home and away until October.

The top two teams will be automatically promoted to the K3 League, and the 3rd and 4th place playoff winners will face K3 14th place in the promotion decider. 19가이드03
