User talk:Kershaw Remains In LA Again... Agreed On New Contracts With Dodgers, Remains Together This Year
Clayton Kershaw chose LA, not Texas. Kershaw will wear the LA Dodgers uniform again this season.
Citing internal sources, the Major League's official website MLB.com reported on the 7th that the Dodgers agreed to renew the contract with Kershaw. Details of the contract are not known.
Considered one of the best pitchers in Dodgers history, Kershaw pitched 131.2 innings in 24 games last year, posting a 13-5 record with a 2.46 ERA. However, he missed many games due to injury, failing to enter the regulation innings for the third consecutive year. Notably, he started Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but collapsed after allowing six runs in 0.1 innings, and eventually underwent surgery on his left shoulder after the season. With the surgery, Kershaw is expected to return until the second half of 2024.
Initially, many predicted that Kershaw was likely to leave the Dodgers and move to the Texas Rangers. The Dodgers spent a lot of money this winter by recruiting Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Hernandez Teoscar and Tyler Glasnow, and naturally focused on them. In particular, this expectation grew even more as Kershaw, who had consistently appeared at the fan festival event at Dodger Stadium on the 4th, disappeared and Ohtani appeared.
Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes, however, has continued to remain positive about the possibility of Kershaw signing, eventually succeeding in agreeing a new contract.
Details of the deal are unknown, but the deal will give Kershaw at least 17 seasons with the Dodgers. Over the past 16 seasons, Kershaw has won three National League Cy Young Awards, one National League Most Valuable Player award, 11 postseason titles, and one World Series title. His overall record is 210 wins, 92 losses and an earned run average of 2.48. He has 3,000 strikeouts but only 56 more to go.
